Stampotique Mail Art Challenge

Sent with Love

Second week of the Stampotique Mail Art Challenge, you can find more information on taking part here

This is my first go at Mail Art and I loved it, such a wonderful idea and I would be happy with a plain card if I received some of the wonderful envelope art work that my Design Team Collegues have produced you can see them over on the Stampotique Designers blog

After some research, I knew that I wanted to create something that had lots of colour and overlay patterns with relief highlights of white

I Stamped Lovelyarethesound, Pen, Calender and Tree Topper in Black Stazon
Masked them and stamped Daniels Hearts & Tenticurls with multicoloured Stazon Midi Inks
Colour washed with watercolours
Over stamped swirls and stalks in black ink and DecoArt Titanium white brushed lightly onto the stamps and further highlighted with a white pen
Stamped around the edges of the envelope and the Daniel Torrente styled heart address label with Oodles of Doodles and Black Distress Ink

Andy Skinner's Fabulous Fossil Stencil, it Rocks!

I applied a coat of Gesso to a large MDF Tag from Fernli Designs, and then stencilled with Carbon Black Fluid Acrylic

Once dry, I off set the stencil and applied DecoArt Media Crackle paste

Allow to dry naturally for a couple of hours

I applied Green Gold and Cobalt Teal, blending gradually

Followed by Payne's Grey and Dioxadine Purple, spritzing with water to blend

Once happy with the colour balance allow to dry

Stamped around with Stampotique Spiral Daydream

Blended Payne's Grey to add depth

and Cobalt Teal and Dioxadine Purple

Highlighted the crackle areas with Interference Paint Violet and Turquoise

DecoArt Peacock Eyes Canvas Tutorial

Peacock Eyes
Tons of Texture and a Mass of Metallic

Apply torn paper to a Canvas with Matt Medium, I was using an existing canvas that I had already applied colour to which wasn't necessary but it added a colour cast!
Applying Modelling Paste and Crackle paste through a variety of Stencils

Apply Modelling Paste directly and texture with a palette knife, allow to dry for 2 hours

I planned the layout and applied Gesso to the area where the face was going to be located, once dry I stencilled the face with Carbon Black Media Fluid Acrylic
I cut approximately 30 Feathers and applied with
Matt Medium, and applied a coat over them and the face
I started by applying watered down Media Mister Violet, darker around the edge with Quinacridone Violet
Then worked Dioxadine Purple blending one colour to the next
 Repeat with Carbon Black

Followed with Phthalo Blue working out to the edge of the Canvas
Started to wipe back the paint on the raised areas with a baby wipe whilst still wet
If you wipe back to much just brush a little more colour, I also highlighted the tips of the feathers with Cobalt Teal Hue

Once dry the next step is to dry brush the raised texture areas with Metallic Silver

The colours were toned down with a wash of Carbon Black
I applied lots of the Silver Metallic to the feathers, building up gradually until desired effect is achieved
