Stampotique Under the Sea

Come swimming with me under the sea!

The background effect was created with Brusho Crystals dropped onto wet watercolour paper
as were the Mermaids Smushallaum, Smushasha & Smumanha
Fish Gawan, Arthur & Ambrosius and Octopet too and all were distressed around the edges once dry
I also embossed seaweed in gold and bubbles in silver and turquoise

Clarity Feminine

I have wanted this fabulous Balloon stamp for a while and recently acquired it, so much beautiful detail quite Steampunk, so I decided to produce a Steampunk style mini handbag for the Clarity Stamps Feminine Challenge

I cut the bag on my Cricut then stamped the Clarity large and small lupins using clear embossing powder

Then coloured with Distress stains Iced Spruce, Peacock Feather & Rusty Hinge then placed newspaper and applied heat with an iron to remove the embossing powder assembled and then distressed the edges with Walnut Stain

The Clarity FIlligraphy Hot Air Balloon with Stazon Timber Brown and coloured with Promakers and Distress inks, Antique Linen and Walnut Stain

Fofe and the boys were getting used to wearing their floral leis at the Hawaiian beach party

Fofe had secretly wanted the pink one!

I stamped Fofe, Heartthrob and Miguel then covered with masking fluid then washed DecoArt Acrylics Cadmium Yellow, Titanium White and Aquamarine

Once dry rubbed away the masked areas and the painted the characters with Carbon Black

The Flower leis were cut from card coloured with Lavender, Dioxadine Purple, Vivid Violet, Quinacridone Violet, Bright Orange and Naphthol Red

I love making ATC, they are so lovely to produce and I need to do more!

Great challenge to keep it simple with Tims influence, so that's what I did, no embellishments other than on the ATC bag

As I love texture and layers and the amazing ethereal beauty that stamping onto tissue paper can achieve and it keeps it very simple too but with lots of subtle texture and colour

I started by covering the ATCs with DecoArt modelling paste

 Colouring with Distress stains Pumice stone, honey gold and rusty hinge

 Then stamped onto tissues paper, using TH stamps Classics 5 & Mini Ornaments

 which are incredible beautiful and natural looking 

Apply with DecoArt Media Matt Medium, apply to both sides and apply pressure to ensure clarity
I applied Crackle glaze and enhanced with Carbon Black acrylic paint

Once dry I applied a coat of DecoArt Media Ultra Matt varnish

 I applied the modelling paste and the colours in the same way to the ATC Bag which I cut using Tim Holtz in the Bag Die

 Applied black acrylic paint around the edges, wiping back with a baby wipe

 Finished with one of Tim's Ornate Plates to accentuate the eye

Stampotique Music Inspiration

Blur Song 2 

Woo Hoo!

 DT Winter is feeling blurred!

I stamped her and the Song Title onto card then applied DecoArt Acrylic paints, Carbon Black, Plum, Black Plum, Orange Twist, Zinc & Sand by scrapping across with a scoring tool and blended with a baby wipe and my fingers

I love dragonflies and have just acquired the fabulous Layered Dragonfly die & embossing folder so my tag is inspired by their beautiful colours 

 I used Tag Size 10, 8 & 5 and applied Modeling paste through Tim Holtz  latticework and Doily stencil and coloured with Dylusions After Midnight, vibrant turquoise, Calypso teal, Crushed Grape and Funky Fuchsia

On the largest Tag I applied a wash of black acrylic and then wiped back with a baby wipe & kitchen towel to colour the background card

The smallest tag used the same technique and also dry brushed with DecoArt Dazzling Metallics Purple Pearl

On the middle tag, I used Tims Batik effect, colouring the base of the tag with Iced Spruce Distress Ink. Them stamping the flourish from Mini Classic's with clear ink and using clear embossing powder

Once dry I coloured with Dusty Concord then placed newspaper and ironed to remove the excess embossing powder
I painted the Layered Dragonfly with DecoArt Aquamarine and then a wash of Dioxadine purple to fill the deboss areas

I finished it by dry brushing with Dazzling Metallics Peacock pearl & Moss pearl

Stampotique Bows

All Tied Up!

I tied and knotted various widths of string around a Tando mixed media board, then applied DecoArt Gesso 

Once dry I applied washes of Quinacridone Gold, Burnt Umber and Carbon Black

Finished with a fabric bow coloured with Walnut Stain & Antique Linen Distress ink and some splashes of paint

Marci was stamped on Manila Card and coloured with the same Distress Inks

A Vintage Journeys new challenge 'Time flies'

Anything relating to the passing of time, this is down to your interpretation of how quickly time passes for more detail please visit A Vintage Journey

 I love clocks and the mechanics, one of the most amazing clocks is housed in Salisbury Cathedral and is claimed to be the oldest working clock in the world dating back to 1386! an incredible piece of machinery, certainly makes you reflect on the passing of time

A great inspiration for my project, I decided to use butterflies flying around the old corroded winged clock 
To symbolise measuring how time flies which is always ticking with the pendulum it never stops 

The Pocket watch face was stamped with the clock from mini classics and then coloured with Wrinkle free distress technique using Old paper, Walnut Stain and Black Soot

 Distressed with walnut stain & Black soot Finished with DecoArt Crackle glaze 

Pocket watch case coloured with Espresso, Butterscotch & Oregano Alcohol Inks attached with chain to the inside of the clock case using Glossy Accents

I used the Rusted Grunge technique on Tim Holtz Weathered clock Die

Applied Tim holtz Distress Embossing Powder in Tea Dye coloured with distress stain inks, vintage photo, fired brick, walnut stain , black soot and alcohol ink Espresso

I added screw tops and a Tim Holtz clock key to the Prima Finnabair clock case, applied DecoArt Texture sand and painted with Burnt Umber, followed with a wash of Red Iron Oxide 

The wings cut using a cricut machine were also done with the same technique for a rusty finish

The large butterfly on the top Sizzix Alternations Tim Holtz Bigz Die with Texture Fade - Layered Butterfly was painted with DecoArt Burnt Umber and dry brushed with Dazzling Metallics Peacock Pearl, Glorious Gold & Espresso

The inside of the back was covered with embossed card using clock texture fades then embellished with Sprocket, mini gears and half pearls

Painted with Burnt Umber and dry brushed with DecoArt Dazzling Metallic Expresso, Glorious Gold and Shimmering Silver

I cut the Butterflies from the Butterfly Frenzy & Mini Butterflies dies using paper coloured
using Marble Stains technique 

Colours used Pumice Stone, Stormy Sky, Iced Spruce & Rusty Hinge 

Stamped with Artful Tools Measure tape stamp as they are measuring time flying!

DecoArt Door

Decorative Canvas using DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics and MediaTexture Products

I die cut and embossed 300gsm card using Spellbinders Gold Elements, Petite Lace and embossing folder Mediterranean Medallion then arranging the various elements on a piece of A4 Mount Board

 Then applied Crackle Paste through stencils, glued a piece of torn card and the various die cuts some under and over to create varying layers applying more crackle paste to cover edges

Placed the corrugated card board in the centre with the Acanthus (Wood Resin) embellishment, then applied half pearls on the corners and the vein of the Acanthus embellishment

The small circular embellishments were moulded with paper clay

 Once dry I applied a coat of DecoArt White Gesso and left to dry, then applied Texture Sand Paste to the edges of the central feature and the corrugated effect

I wanted to create an overall metallic wrought iron, rusty corrugated effect with copper verdigris patina on the central embellishment and handle

Starting by applying Media Cobalt Teal & Cobalt Turquoise Hue to the handle & Central embellishment

 Then applied Media Burnt Umber around these areas and shaded with Carbon Black towards the edges

 Brushing burnt umber onto the Cobalt Teal & Cobalt Turquoise to distress

 Then dry brushed with Titanium white to the embellishments, die cuts, embossing and the edges of the corrugated cardboard

 

Applied a wash of Quinacridone Gold over these areas, allowed to dry and repeated and applied areas with pure colour to achieve a rich copper and the corrugated cardboard highlighted with English Red Oxide to create a rust effect

This stage is really about applying various washes and layers to achieve an effect that you are happy with

The beauty with the DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics is that the pigment is so pure and little is required to achieve rich vibrant colour effects

The canvas was finished with a coat of DecoArt Ultra Matt Varnish, which totally mattifies any sheen

I love black and white, and also love Ska so my inspiration came from an old Two Tone poster
Twinkie & Sweet Moves love dancing to Ska Music and Rock & Roll in there blue suede shoes!
