DecoArt Media Range and Tando Creative Draught/Checkers Set

Draught/ Checkers Board Box

My inspiration for the Tando Draught Board Set started with some beautiful ceramic tiles
and I wanted to create a board that could transform into a box to hold the draught pieces

The heavyweight chipboard tiles were covered with the DecoArt Media Modelling paste and Crackle paste and textured with a palette knife on the flat and side to get a rib effect

Once dry these were coloured with DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics
Dioxadine Purple
Quinacridone Gold
Yellow Oxide

Dioxadine Purple
Cobalt Teal Hue
 and highlighted with
Metallic Gold

This was my prototype to work out how to transform the board into a box,
It had to have flexibility so I decided to use ribbon on the finished project

Tile Layout illustrating the cuts and folds

I made a frame for the tiles with guides to the spacing, the ribbon was woven under and over and glue applied to the ribbon and tiles

The ends of the ribbon were turned back and magnets inserted

The draughts were covered with modelling paste and painted with Quinacridone gold, Metallic gold, Cobalt Teal Hue and Dioxadine purple and embellished with fine gold and turquoise wire

A little video to show how the box and board is configured, you will see that I made an internal box from card to add internal support and house the pieces

I hope you have enjoyed my project, please check out the fabulous DecoArt Media Products and Tando Creative products

Priscilla Jones Workshop

I spent a brilliant weekend on a Priscilla Jones Workshop at the fabulous Mad Hatters Studio in Devon

Learning techniques with wire, wax and silks and here's my Angel with bunny ear wings!

Fantastic techniques creating a beautiful ethereal feel and gorgeous textures
I love the membrane effect it creates over the wire skeletal structure particularly on the wings

I made the butterflies and hearts embellishments a couple of days before with air dry clay which requires a few days drying time
Coloured with DecoArt Media Paints Quinacridone gold, Prussian Blue and Carbon Black and finished with Ultra Matt Varnish

Stampotique Polka Dots

Polka Planets

I used a variety of circular and dotty stencils and applied with modelling paste
Then coloured with DecoArt Media Misters Sprays, which are amazing as they are actually acrylic paint not inks so the colours are fabulously rich
I sprayed them and wiped with a baby wipe to mix and reveal the modelling paste textures

The mermaids were stamped on card and coloured with Promarkers, added tissue paper wings to fly and float around the planets!
